Is it me or are my eyes bleeding, all i see is red   =)

Unless you’re shorting stocks or using puts today was a little rough, as i speak the NASDAQ is down almost 4% same with the Dow and the S&P and even the mighty TSX is lower by 2.6%.

Why you may ask?

Because the China stock exchange fell almost 9%, oh plus Greenspan said some nasty comments about the possibility of the US economy heading for recession. I guess he forgot about the spending power of the baby boomers in there prime.

But the real reason the market is down……… PROFIT TAKING, this is a good reason why you should take your profits. This does happen time to time, but corrections are good, cause after corrections come opportunities, and that means more money to be made which i like =)

Some stocks which are tasty at this level (Full Disclosure, I do own these stocks, otherwise why else would i recommend them if i didn’t own them)

GS - Goldman Sachs sitting at $200 good buy

SBUX - Starbucks sitting at Just above $30 a steal of a stock

AAPL - Apple now that’s looking tasty at this level $83 yummy!

AKAM - Akami also another good looking stock.

The point is there are lots of deals to be found, not just only these stocks when the market corrects, look for these deals over the next couple of days,
-Enjoy

So the year is 2007 and well another year another dollar right?   Wrong this is going to be the year where microsoft takes over yahoo, yup you heard it right they are going to buy Yahoo straight out, either an all cash deal or a mixture of stock and cash which is more likely.

You may ask why?

Well the answer is advertising, the only company of the major 3 search engines that’s lacking a total advertising solution.

Yahoo bought overture, Google stole overture’s system and then improved it and Mr. Softy? they have nothing, and if they want a piece of the 42billion (2010 estimate) online advertising revenue then they need a system and they need one now.

Thus equaling my conclusion.

If you still don’t believe me which is ok, just take a look at the financials which supports my theory even further.

Here’s Microsoft’s financial statement

All you need to see if that the total market cap of Yahoo is just under $40 billion

and if you look at cash on hand of Microsoft they have $28 billion in cash.

hmmmmmmm i hoped i piqued your interest Shoemoney wrote a good article on why it should occur as well.

enjoy  =)

Apple Iphone launched todayWell it’s finally here, after months of waiting, and Kevin Rose’s prediction, we finally have seen the IPONE from Apple, if you don’t know what I’m talking about go check out the website, i know once you do you will be a fan and you must have it!

Here’s the link

Now as just a teeny tiny side not it’s interesting to see that Apple’s stock (aapl) hit an alltime high today, my predictions are simple, keep your apple stock, if you dont own some, then go buy some once it comes down a buck or two on some more options scandal nonsense.

The way you have to look at this is, if you had the chance to invest in Apple about 4 years ago when the IPOD was launched you would have made a ton of money, well here it is again it’s your turn to make a ton of cash.

P.S. Apple changed there name from Apple Computer to Apple Inc. Hmmmm strange could it be that Apple is focusing on more than just computing?……duh!

Apple is a buy!

So i decided to watch the movie The Pursuit of Happyness staring Will Smith, i actually saw it the day it opened, after i saw the trailer in theaters i just knew i had to see it.

if you haven’t seen the trailer it’s here

After watching this movie, i have to say it’s one of the more inspirational movies i have seen in a long time, great movie line and my favorite part of the whole movie is that they didn’t make it too sappy, which they could have easily done as many other movies have done. The main character Chris Gardner might be the hardest working person i’ve ever seen, remember this movie is based on a real life story, to get some more info on him read this wikipedia article.

I dont want to give anything away in the movie, but i highly recommend this movie, if your not a movie person there is also the book that came out earlier this year, you can get it from amazon.

Former US Vice-President Al Gore has done a great job of publicizing the affects of Global Warming, we here at the Coming Crisis.com believe it is the single biggest problem facing the world in this coming century.

The Chinese character for crisis is opportunity and danger, whenever there is danger there is opportunity to benefit.
With the impending crisis coming there are a few simple things that you yourself can do to benefit.

1. Like Real Estate the climate process is a slow process in terms of human life, most experts agree it will take around 50years for either the Greenland icecap or the south pole regions to melt, if or when this occurs there will be tell tale signs, first of all there is raw data that is data that is gathered from both sources, secondarily there will also be more floods in low lying areas as the water that is melting into the ocean will cause a global rise in water level.

How can YOU benefit, well if you plan on investing in real estate in these areas remember to keep a close eye on developments on the front of icecap melting, policy changes within industrialized nations(including India and China).

Another way you can gain from this is when of if it does occur wait for it to sink in, it will take around 3-5 years after cities start to flood. The best places to invest will be semi retirement low lying area’s that are high enough not to be affected by the estimated 20ft global increase in the water levels. Excellent places would be Mumbai, India, San Fransisco, New York, Vancouver,BC and the Netherlands.

The final thing you will want to remember is always always remember your demographics, when or if this starts to occur what phase are we going to be in?

Are the baby boomer’s going to be retiring?

Is the Echo Baby Boom going to be investing in there first or second homes?

Remember these are simple rules to follow when investing and to profit from Global Warming, it will also hedge your investments against catastrophic loss.

The last thing to keep in mind is whenever anyone is selling someone is buying.

P.S. i would love to read this post 10-15years from now and have everything wrong, but the sad truth is the way we are heading it is looking more likely than not.

Silver, silver, silver. There’s been alot of talk about silver lately, as with all commodities. There has obviously been a bull market in this group, but does silver have legs?

Robert Kiyosaki a premier educator (I’m a personal fan) has made been clear that he is a fan of silver, he also had been bullish on gold and real estate in the late 90’s. If you would have listened to his advice then you would defiantly be in a good position right now.

On the other hand you have 2 experts in Don Hays and Harry Dent jr which both are saying you want to be in the stock market, now the obvious question is which one do you listen to?

Well the answer is both why not have equal share of each!

Again it comes down to growth! How fast are you looking to grow, another point about silver you may want to consider is What Would Warren Do? and by Warren obviously I’m referring to Warren Buffet,

Warren has been taking large positions in Gold and Silver since 2000.

The other advantage of Silver is it gets used and thrown away.

You may be thinking “thrown away?”, the answer is yes, it is used in many forms of electronics and manufacturing i.e. mirrors but because it is used in such small quantities it is nearly impossible to reclaim, so it’s just tossed away.

Our final thoughts are silver is definitely a good position to be in, but should be only a percentage of your portfolio, depending on how fast you want to grow your portfolio.

The Richmond apartment market is starting to show signs of a build in inventory, the latest number from mls is showing for the last 5 months there’s been a steady increase in the number of listings.

Look at the graph below

As you can see there has been a significant increase in listings, with 2007 coming and it being the most active year for condo’s coming on the market it looks like it could shape a to be a good year for renters. Lots of choice.

The bottom line, if people cant rent there mortgages out at least at a 90% value meaning if you pay $1000/month mortgage payment and cant rent that place out for at least $900 we could start to see the market in the Richmond are finally start to correct.

Later this month we will have a new report out on the number of days it’s taking to sell an apartment now. If we see a significant increase then it is a very good sign of a cooling market.
